Denver Public Schools
Denver Public Schools (DPS) is widely recognized today as one of the best and most innovative urban school systems in the country, serving 90,000+ students about 200 schools in Denver, Colorado.
Brittany has been at DPS since January 2015. She leads brand management for the district. She has created thousands of materials — and dozens of communications plans and full rebrands — for schools and departments over the past eight years. She leads communications around district policy initiatives. She’s art directed hundreds of photoshoots and dozens of video shoots. She has project managed over 100 school websites and also manages school digital media campaigns and advertisements. Below are some of her favorite projects.
DPS Brand Management
I lead brand management for the district, ensuring materials communicated by DPS and its 125+ departments and teams are aligned to district brand guidelines. The process to create and implement the DPS brand guidelines took about two years (2017-2019). Our team defined brand voice and tone, created style guidelines for print, web and photography, and designed and launched internal and external brand guidelines across the district. We built out thousands of internal department materials, including logo lockups, brand guidelines, and foundational branded materials (email signatures, letterhead, Google slides, flier templates, etc.) for over 125 departments and teams. We created a cascade of communications to share this news, and held in-person brand training series for teams and departments. Please find our brand standards here.
Additionally, I manage the graphic design project intake process for the district. Our design team completes 500 creative deliverables annually.
School Websites
Working with a web developer, we developed and implemented an accessible, mobile-friendly website theme that is now being used at over 100 schools. I oversee website design and development, content audits, updates and training for 150 school websites across the district. I am knowledgeable in web accessibility and ADA compliance as well as web development best practices.
Some favorite sites include East High School, George Washington High School, and Robert F. Smith Steam Academy.
Manual High School
I have rebranded dozens of schools, however the Manual rebrand is one of my favorites. I fully updated branding for this historic high school and created new logo and brand guide, marketing package with dozens of materials, and building enhancement project complete with hallway decals, external and internal signage, flags, banners and more. Wrote content, provided design direction and art direction for project. This resulted in a 74% increase in No. 1 choice applications over the course of two years of work. View branding and brochure here.
Digital Campaigns for SchoolChoice
I manage digital campaigns to support recruitment and enrollment for dozens of schools throughout annual SchoolChoice seasons, utilizing school branding and messaging throughout the campaigns. I provided schools with digital strategies including Facebook cover photos, gifs, profile frames, mobile application ads, Facebook ads and Google ads. View campaign results and materials here.
Marketing Videos
I produce marketing videos for schools. I write content and interview questions, provide art direction and editing, and publish and complete distribution plans through digital venues. See a view favorite videos that I’ve produced here.
School Photoshoots
I provide art direction for school photo shoots accompanying a photographer. I coordinate shot list and media releases. You can find many of the photoshoots I’ve worked on at dps.photoshelter.com.
Emily Griffith Technical College
I held focus groups with community, students and staff to fully reimagine EGTC brand identity, key messaging, and communications strategy. View brand guide, key messaging, logo files and brochure here.
Hallett Academy
Another one of my favorite rebrands is Hallett Academy. I conducted a full rebrand and marketing package for Hallett Academy. This included logo and brand identity, key messaging, building beautification, brochures, school website, stationary, postcard mailers, fliers, yard signs, and dozens and more materials. View after image in the photo above, and before image here. View brochure file here. As a result of the two year campaign, the number of students who chose Hallett as No. 1 on their SchoolChoice forms went up 232%.
Northeast Early College
Northeast Early College included a school rename as well as a rebrand. I conducted focus groups to determine new name, developed branding, and completely rebranded all printed and digital materials for the school. View building enhancements here.
Lowry Elementary
I conducted a full rebrand of Lowry Elementary including logo and brand identity, building beautification, marketing collateral, school website, stationary, and more. I conducted focus groups, developed their brand, and created a marketing package. View brochure here.
Denver Discovery School
I created a brand guide, marketing collateral package, building enhancements and digital campaign including Google Ads, Facebook Ads and social videos. The brand guide is located here. To view building enhancements click here.
